Sarasota Memorial Health Care System has deployed an analytics platform to identify lung cancers earlier across its Gulf Coast service area, accelerating diagnosis and follow-up at its Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute. The not-for-profit system aggregated radiology, pathology and claims data into a unified pipeline to surface suspicious nodules and care gaps, enabling clinicians to prioritize high-risk patients and reduce diagnostic delays.
While the platform uses machine learning and rule-based analytics to flag abnormalities, Sarasota Memorial emphasizes clinician oversight and workflow integration to translate flags into timely action. Early results reported improved case finding and faster interventions; executives say the approach demonstrates how AI-enabled analytics can augment cancer screening programs, improve operational efficiency and potentially improve outcomes when embedded in EHR workflows and multidisciplinary care pathways.
