The government’s written reply indicates the platform aims to centralize medication transaction data, improve traceability and strengthen stewardship of antimicrobials to curb misuse and antimicrobial resistance.
Digital records create datasets that can be leveraged by AI and analytics for surveillance, pattern detection, and clinical decision support, enabling earlier identification of prescribing trends, outbreaks, and resistance signals. Officials are considering whether to extend requirements to private practitioners, which would broaden data coverage and enhance model training, but will need to address interoperability, privacy, and governance to ensure AI tools deliver safe, explainable insights and equitable public health benefits.
