The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA), in partnership with the Australasian Institute of Digital Health, has launched an intermediate-level online course on clinical safety in digital health. The self-paced programme comprises seven modules covering safety culture, governance, clinical safety activities and real‑world assessment of clinical safety implications. Designed for professionals involved in design, delivery and operation of digital health systems, the course aims to standardise risk‑aware practices across clinical digital projects.
Though not AI-specific, the curriculum directly relates to the safe deployment and ongoing oversight of AI-enabled clinical tools, emphasising governance frameworks, validation and post‑market monitoring that are critical for machine learning models in care pathways. By equipping clinicians, developers and implementers with structured assessment techniques and governance skills, the course targets common failure modes in digital and AI systems and supports regulatory compliance, patient safety and trust as health services accelerate adoption of algorithmic decision support.
