Singapore’s National University Health System (NUHS) has rolled out an AI-powered pharmacy platform across its cluster to assist with medication reconciliation, triage and verification. The system automates routine pharmacy workflows, consolidating prescription data to flag discrepancies and prioritize cases for pharmacist review. NUHS says the platform will free pharmacists from time-consuming administrative tasks, enabling faster prescription processing and stronger medication safety oversight.
NUHS estimates the technology will save about 850 staff hours weekly, a productivity gain that could be redeployed to clinical care and complex medication management. The deployment highlights AI’s growing role in healthcare operations — reducing manual workload, shortening turnaround times and potentially lowering medication errors — while prompting considerations about integration, validation and governance as hospitals scale such tools.
