Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand has enlisted UCLPartners, a London-based health innovation specialist and academic health science network affiliated with the NHS, to support its HealthX innovation and digital transformation programme. The direct appointment will see UCLPartners provide international expertise to help assess, test and scale digital and AI innovations across New Zealand’s public health system, leveraging NHS-backed experience in clinical innovation, evaluation and system-wide deployment.
The partnership is aimed at accelerating responsible AI adoption by combining UCLPartners’ policymaking and implementation experience with Te Whatu Ora’s HealthX remit to pilot technologies, develop evaluation frameworks, and scale validated tools. Observers say the collaboration could fast-track clinical validation, data governance practices and operational rollouts, offering a model for importing NHS-tested approaches to AI-driven care delivery in a publicly funded national health system.
