Unlocking AI’s value through ‘phygital’ care

SingHealth is redesigning patient-journey workflows as it transitions to a hybrid “phygital” public healthcare cluster in Singapore, marrying in-person services with digital care. Group Chief Digital Strategy and Data Officer Benedict Tan says the cluster is deploying advanced technologies, data and AI to drive better clinical outcomes and improve experiences for patients and staff. Early use cases include AI-enabled triage, predictive analytics, decision support and remote monitoring embedded into care pathways.

The approach prioritizes operational efficiency and clinical augmentation—automating routine tasks, improving capacity planning and enabling more personalized, continuous care through telehealth and wearable integration. SingHealth is emphasizing data governance, interoperability and staff training to safely scale AI into workflows while monitoring equity, privacy and measurable impact. The model aims to demonstrate how tightly integrated AI and digital tools can enhance both care delivery and system resilience.
