After benchmarking, HIMSS moves to digital maturity advisory

HIMSS is expanding beyond traditional benchmarking with a digital maturity advisory offering to help health systems translate maturity scores into actionable roadmaps. The initiative repackages HIMSS’ analytics and benchmarking expertise into consulting services focused on interoperability, data strategy, telehealth, cybersecurity and workforce readiness, aiming to close the gap between assessment and implementation and to standardize metrics that track progress across provider organizations.

For AI and clinical analytics, the advisory emphasizes governance, model validation, data quality, bias mitigation and integration of algorithms into clinical workflows. HIMSS plans to support vendor selection, performance monitoring and regulatory alignment so organizations can scale AI-driven decision support with measurable outcomes while controlling safety, privacy and equity risks. The service targets operationalizing digital capabilities rather than solely scoring them.
