Indian states roll out radiology AI and more briefs

Madhya Pradesh has launched a pilot deploying AI-enabled radiology tools in 10 district hospitals under a memorandum of understanding with Canadian tech firm mlHealth360. The pilot integrates automated image analysis and reporting assistance into existing hospital workflows to accelerate diagnostic turnaround and support understaffed radiology departments. Officials say the goal is to triage cases faster, reduce reporting backlogs and improve access to specialist-level reads in peripheral facilities.

The initiative underscores growing interest across Indian states in leveraging AI to strengthen public healthcare delivery, while highlighting governance challenges including clinical validation, interoperability with hospital information systems, clinician training and patient data privacy. If validated, the pilot could inform state-wide scaling and procurement frameworks, shaping standards for vendor partnerships and regulatory oversight as governments weigh AI’s operational benefits against safety and ethical concerns.
