Seoul St. Mary’s automates cancer drug registration

Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital in South Korea has deployed an in-house automated system to streamline patient registration for cancer drug risk management programmes. The software, developed with AI assistance by haematologists at the hospital’s Multiple Myeloma Center, replaces the manual entry of more than 20 fields per prescription with a process started by a patient’s registration number. It has been in clinical use since September, aiming to speed up onboarding for high-need therapies and improve data accuracy for safety monitoring. The effort underscores AI’s growing role in hospital workflows to cut clerical burden while preserving compliant, auditable records for risk management.

By automating registration, the system could improve real-time risk tracking, regulatory compliance, and clinician bandwidth for patient care. Seoul St. Mary’s example may offer a scalable model for other oncology programs seeking AI-driven tools to streamline safety reporting and documentation.
